It is all quiet in room B5 at Hearst Elementary. Everything is packed up for the deep cleaning of carpets this summer. But where is the teacher? She is getting some well needed R&R, but she is also attending several conferences to rejuvenate her teaching soul.
I have been out of school for several weeks and I have been enjoying sleeping in, getting some household tasks done, and spending time with friends and family. And even though I am on vacation, I am still planning for next year here and there. However, I am very excited to have the opportunity to go to several conferences this summer! I have already been to GYTO and I will be going to TpT, Hello LitCon, and Happy Go Teach.
GYTO
Get Your Teach On was last week June 24-26th in San Diego. Luckily for me, it was in my hometown. I can’t say enough about this conference! It was so high energy filled with fun, academic rigor, easy to adopt teaching techniques, and hands on classroom ideas. There were so many great presenters, too! My favorites were Hope King, Joe Dombrowski, and Michael Bonner.
I am already beginning to plan lessons and routines that I learned at the conference. I highly recommend this conference for every teacher K – 6. The break out sessions are grade specific, the topics taught are easily implemented into your classroom, and all the presenters were dynamic.
TpT
It is finally here! I am leaving for Nashville tomorrow. This conference is always a great boost of information and energy to move forward in with my TpT business. I have attended all the conferences except the one in Orlando. The TpT presenters are very informative and I always feel like I learned something from each and everyone of them. I also appreciate that TpT staff tries to meet all the sellers needs by hosting classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced TpTers.
I have my notebook ready thanks to Emilee Ray – For The Teacher. It is only $2.25 and has color and black/white options.
I am also meeting my dearest friend who moved to North Carolina last summer. After the conference, we will spend a little time in Nashville, North Carolina, and Georgia. Can’t wait to see her! As a bonus, I get to see my aunt and my 95 year-old grandma when we get to Georgia. Always glad to spend time with them!
Hello LitCon
Jen Jones is having a Hello LitCon in Carlsbad this August. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go to this one day affair. I follow Jen on IG and I love her philosophy on Literacy. When my friends and I were at GYTO, we decided to go to this conference too. I am really looking forward to listening to Jen in person. This conference is right before school starts, so I will be walking into this year armed and ready for Literacy!
Happy Go Teach
Happy Go Teach is in LA on August 31st – September 1st. I am going to this conference thanks to Donors Choose. I was funded back in May for this conference and I am really excited to see what it is all about.
Wow – I am busy this summer with conferences, but I am so elated to learn more great things to implement in my classroom! I can’t believe most of these conferences are all in Southern California. It makes it much easier for me to attend.
Hope you are having a great summer break and check out next week’s blog – My Easy Teaching Life on Grade Recovery!
