Here we are in the first week of December and I feel like I am actually back to business finally. Ever since Halloween, we have had celebrations, parent conferences, and minimum days. Then when I was returning from our week break, I had jury duty.
I finally got back into the routine of meeting daily with my conferring groups. I really like working in small groups with my kiddos. I am able to focus on their needs and have really good discussions over texts.

This week we had our school Book Fair. Students get to pick from titles of Scholastic Books. All our teachers get to spend $200 on books. I am so grateful to have a chance to expand my classroom library. Students help me choose the books, since they are for them.

I also got my ukulele rack installed. My kiddos are learning ukulele once a week and I have incorporated playing and practicing twice a week in my morning meeting. I have just ordered my last batch of instruments and they will be here next week. I will have 15 ukuleles in the classroom for students and about half of my class brings their own. This way every student has one when we play.

When I changed seats this week, I also gave my students new name tags. I found these great sticks with a chalkboard from Hobby Lobby. They are perfect for the mugs. They turned out so cute!

Finally, I had a chance to do some great planning this week. We are fortunate to have a great mentor, Rebecca Bellingham. She has helped us really hone our reading and writing instruction. I am thankful for good planning!

Hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to getting through the next two weeks! Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back soon!
