Our class has been working on “What is your word?” since we returned from winter break. Students had to decide what word defined them or was something they wanted to become in the future.
Once everyone had their word, I had them share it with the class. Everyone said, “My word is _________”. Surprisingly, this was very powerful and i think it really gave meaning to the words the class chose. Students then had to write why they chose that particular word and what it means to them.
I had the students type up their paragraphs on the computer and I gave them letters to color for their word. They had four fonts to choose from. We mounted the words on one side of black construction paper with the paragraph on the back. I put all of them in my classroom windows.

Finally, I bought a kit from MyIntent to make each of my kiddos their own bracelet. The cost of one bracelet is $22 if you buy one online. Luckily, MyIntent sells a kit with the stamps and enough bracelets for the a whole class. I was able to ask parents to donate $7 per child to cover the cost.

It took me about an hour and half to stamp all their bracelets, but it was worth it. The kids were so excited to get a bracelet. The day we passed them out, we went outside and did a photo shoot of all them.

I am finishing up a product for TpT that will have all the fonts we used and a guide on how to help students choose their word. I should have it up in my store in the next few days.
Thanks for stopping by!
