This school year my students and I are grateful to have The Walking Classroom. It is a program that provides mp3 players for all your students. There are over 160 different lessons that focus on topics from language arts to science and social studies. There are also many lessons on famous or influential people.

Each of the lessons comes with pre and post activities and quizzes. They allow you to open the lesson in the classroom, walk and listen to the mp3 player, and then follow up with the end of the lesson back in the classroom.
Another added bonus is the videos that accompany each lesson. They are a great extension and/or enrichment to the topic the students just learned.

Of course, students walking is very beneficial too. Several of my students have said they love getting out of the classroom to get some fresh air. They enjoy moving and listening to lessons. Some of my kiddos struggled in the beginning

Each lesson on the mp3 player also has information about fitness. It is a great way to incorporate lessons on being healthy. Tips and general information, like how many hours a child their age should sleep at night, are delivered at the beginning of the walk. Then it bridges into the lesson for the day. They are age-appropriate, factual, and have some humor too.

In a day and age where our students are needing activity, it is great to incorporate some educational activities that not only inform students, but gives them an avenue to increase health.
