Welcome to October’s Reveal and Review! This month I am introducing my new product Book of Lists and reviewing a product STEM Shoe Challenge by WesternWerks.
Reveal
This product I wrote out of total selfishness. I like to have a place where I keep all my lists – grocery, things to do, gifts to buy, etc. I get a real satisfaction in checking things off my list. Plus, I like seeing all the lists I have completed – it gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
I had been using a composition book for years and calling it my Book of Lists. I finally decided to create my own and I thought maybe others would like it too. I have two – one is at school and the other is on the side of my bed. I chose to make half sized books because they are lighter to carry and they can fit in my purse.
I created two sizes in my product – regular paper size and half paper size. I have five different covers to choose from and two page types for the inside. It also has a front page for who the book belongs to. I copied the pages back to back and cut them in half. I used card stock paper for the cover, black backing, and I bound them with my binding machine.
At the beginning of school I made each of my team partners a Book of Lists as a gift. They really liked them. Several of them use them at our team meetings which confirms to me that I am not the only one who would enjoy a Book of Lists.

Review
I am reviewing a STEM lesson from WesternWerks called STEM Shoe Challenge. It has a lesson on creating a shoe out of newspaper. I really like that the product has a PDF and a editable PowerPoint version. The lesson goes through the steps of STEM investigation and has sheets for students to read and fill out as they create their shoe. Students will create the design of their shoe, test it out for comfort and durability, and evaluate its performance. There is also a set of reflection questions that I like too. Lastly, the product includes an extension piece, teacher instructions, and standards that are met with this lesson.
