I have been in school for a month and I am just now feeling like I am getting on top of things. You know how it is? Too much to do and not enough time.
I am teaching a 4th and 5th grade combo class this year. I have 33 students – 12 4th graders and 21 5th graders. I am working very hard to differentiate math, social studies, and science. Language arts is the only time of day we do whole group instruction. Mostly, it is going well. Science is the only real difficultly because I do experiments. Luckily, I have a college student coming to observe and experience my class twice a week this semester. She has been really great with managing the independent group while I do the experiments.

I like to display work that students do throughout the year.

The first piece the students display is our Important Poem about themselves.
The last year I have been focusing on my health. I am eating better and I exercise everyday. I can’t believe how much energy I have these days. The last few years when I opened my classroom, I was really exhausted. But not this year, I have felt like the energizer bunny. Which is a good thing, since I have a combo. Also, I have had some other little challenges like my classroom website provider is no longer in service. I had to get a whole new website up and running in the first two weeks of school. The website is for my parents and students to get homework, calendar of events, and important information for our classroom.
Believe it or not, I have been working on getting this website off the ground in the last month too. I used Becca from Jumping Jax Designs. She was fantastic! She worked with my needs and likes – I am very happy with the design she created!
Anyway, tonight was the first time I saw my website up and running. I felt the need to post right now. Hope you all are having a wonderful beginning of the year!
